Since today is Groundhog's Day, I will honor the movie "Groundhog Day" and the two ex-Chicagoland people connected with the movie, Bill Murray (star) & Harold Ramis (director, writer, producer.)

Chicagoans are proud of their celebrity actors/directors/writers/news peple (which there are literally hundreds & hundreds)

The story in the movie took place in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvannia. The film was filmed in Woodstock, Illinois.

I have taken photographs of several of the famous movie locations, located in Woodstock. The location of the gravel pit would be difficult to film because it is a working gravel pit & it would be dangerous. The pit is located in Rockford, IL. The scene where Bill Murray gets out of the van & talks to a PA State trooper is located on the Kennedy Expressway, Chicago, IL.

Early this morning, Woodstock Willie, the Woodstock, Illinois "cousin" of Punxsutawney Phil, saw his shadow. Even with a new blanket of snow overnight, Willie believes that Spring is right around the corner. People from Pennsylvania can come to the Chicagoland area for some warmth, since Punxsutawney Phil did not see his shadow.

Lake Michigan water usually is INCREDIBLY COLD for at least 90 days after the air temperature warms up, so they won't be able to swim in the lake. Woodstock Willie said that sunbathing will definitely be possible.
