HOW DID THE LONE RANGER PAY FOR THE SILVER BULLETS - BY HAWKING CHEERIOS
The Lone Ranger was a popular western TV program, during the early 1950's, starring Clayton Moore. A basic history behind the show; the main character was a Texas Ranger & was the lone survivor of a group of six Texas Rangers. The group had been hunting Butch Cavendish and The Hole In The Wall Gang, but were ambushed by the gang. A friendly Indian (that was before Political Correctness) by the name of Tonto, played by Jay Silverheels, saved the Ranger's life, when he came across the aftermath of the ambush.
Tonto was a childhood friend of Reid (last name of the surviving Texas Ranger.) Reid decided to stop being a lawman and living with the law on his side and start to become a vigilante. Tonto would become the faithful companion of the unlawful vigilante masked man, a.k.a. THE LONE RANGER.
The description of the masked ex-Texas Ranger as a vigilante, was done with a wry sense of humor. Technically it may be true, but he was a GOOD VIGILANTE.
At the bottom of this blog entry, I have included the 1st episode of "The Lone Ranger" TV program, from September 16, 1949. Before that, I have included an entertaining commercial of the dashing masked man without his faithful companion. The commercial has TLR hawking Cheerios, along with a cool six-shooter dart gun.
TV TOY MEMORIES has a Lone Ranger cereal box (original - not a reproduction) with a Frontier Town, on the back of the box. If you would like to purchase this box, you may click on the TV TOY MEMORIES link, for more information.
